Vancouver, B.C., Canada, October 24-27, 2019
In late October, Unity Center of Vancouver hosted its first introductory GERI training, in which nine women and eight men gathered toget her for four days, grieved the costs of patriarchal violence, and dared to begin gender healing in their community.
Several men shared about how conforming to the cultural expectation that they be aggressive so often involves betrayal of their hearts’ true feelings. Meanwhile, women spoke of how unhealthy or broken relationships and the cultural lack of sexual safety lead to difficulty navigating sexuality and trusting others.
The training ended with beautiful, emotional honoring ceremonies that seemed to psychically transport the group into a sacred, awe-inspiring space where individual commitments and honoring held great power.
Thanks to the Unity Center of Vancouver and the GERI training team Myra Kinds, Garrett Evans, Cynthia Brix, and Will Keepin, for facilitating this exciting new work in Vancouver.
