Gender Equity and Reconciliation International (GERI) applies principles of Truth and Reconciliation to open new pathways to healing, respect, compassion, and genuine collaboration across the genders. Developed over 31 years and conducted with thousands of participants across six continents, GERI was formally endorsed by Archbishop Desmond Tutu in 2013.
Over the last three decades, GERI has offered programs in collaboration with schools, universities, prisons, religious institutions, for members of parliament, corporations, foundations, and NGOs. Applying an experiential learning methodology combined with skillful facilitation in a group setting, GERI provides a community-based approach that complements traditional activist, political, and academic approaches.
This event involves an introduction to and practical experience of the GERI process, which offers a powerful methodology for achieving gender equity and fostering healthy relations between the genders. Bringing all genders together in a safe context, with skillful facilitation, GERI provides a rare forum to jointly confront the personal, social, and cross-cultural origins of gender oppression and exploitation, and to reach mutual healing and understanding.
The presenters will share inspiring stories and impacts of the GERI programs in diverse countries and cultures, which demonstrate how the methodology of deep truth-telling and collective alchemy dissolves root causes of gender conflict through skillfully facilitated, heart-centered transformational experiences.
